Cíle projektu: Budou studovány procesy v nízkotlakém proudu termického plazmatu (jetu) s velmi nízkou hustotou a vysokou entalpií, vytvářeného ve vodou stabilizovaném oblouku. Bude sledován vliv tlaku a podmínek generování plazmatu na charakteristiky jetu. Výzkum se zaměří na přechody mezi jednotlivými typy proudění od podzvukového proudu při atmosférickém tlaku k silně nadzvukovému expandujícímu jetu při nízkých tlacích a budou sledovány změny struktury proudu, formování rázových vln, rychlosti a složení plazmatu, hustoty a teploty elektronů. Bude studována korelace mezi vlastnostmi plazmatu a dynamickými charakteristikami proudění. Výzkum se zaměří i na interakci proudu plazmatu s pevnými povrchy. Experimenty budou realizovány při vysokých výkonech oblouku do 120kW s použitím vodou stabilizovaných plazmatronů s válcovými a divergentními tryskami. Použité diagnostiky zahrnují vysokorychlostní fotografii, entalpické a elektrické sondy, šlírovou vizualizaci, hmotnostní a optickou spektroskopii. Cílem výzkumu je
Dosažené výsledky: Byly studovány vlastnosti proudu plazmatu vytvořeného v plazmatronu s Gerdienovým obloukem při nízkých tlacích a v kontrolované atmosféře. ÚFP jedinou laboratoří na světě, kde byl vyvinut plazmatron s Gerdienovým obloukem, umožňující hermetické připojení
