|
Project ID: | EH23_013/0008119 | Provider: | Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic | Period: | Jul 01, 2023 - Feb 28, 2028 | Principal Investigator: | prof. RNDr. Radomír Pánek, Ph.D. | Co-investigators | O. Hronova, P. Bartoň, M. Varavin, R. Vaverka, J. Havlíček, O. Peroutka, M. Hron, D. Naydenkova, J. Čeřovský, M. Šebík, M. Tadros, O. Štukavec | Aims of the project: The project aims at closing some of the key gaps of knowledge identified by the EUROfusion consortium for the construction of the first thermonuclear fusion tokamak reactor producing net electric power – DEMO. The primary goal of the project is the construction of the COMPASS-U tokamak, using most of the existing infrastructure and the experience of the young COMPASS tokamak team. This tokamak will be a flexible device, capable to address many of the known gaps in the plasma exhaust physics and to explore innovative divertor regimes and advanced confinement modes important for the next-step fusion devices. The new tokamak aims at generating plasma close to DEMO in the relevant parameters, namely, high plasma density, strong magnetic field and high power density. | |
