Aims of the project: ExtreMat is a large FP6 Integrated Project, aiming at a break-through in materials research for applications in extreme environments. The target applications include electronics, fusion, fission, space and other applications. IPP participates in Subproject 4 - Compounds and Joining, and develops plasma sprayed interlayers for two specific applications:
- composite and graded layers based on tungsten and copper or stainless steel for the plasma facing components of fusion reactors
- electrically insulating interlayers, based on alumina, for electronic applications.
