Aims of the project: We propose to explore in detail processes of dissipation of waves launched by antennas in fusion devices and their consequences for plasma dynamics near the antennas: The focus of this study will be the self-consistent process of generation of secondary plasma flows, plasma density variations and the electrostatic field evolution near the antenna ensuing from the absorption of the launched wave. The plasma reaction, in turn, self-consistently acts upon the original process of the parasitic absorption and upon the wave-plasma coupling. Special attention will be also given to large thermal and particle flows, associated with the wave dissipation, along the plasma confining magnetostatic field. The particle and thermal flow can subsequently impinge uponand damage the plasma vessel at relatively large distances from the antenna.
