Aims of the project: The main objective of the project is to achieve the full scientific use of the PALS infrastructure for the advanced study of very dense plasma. We plan to achieve targets by unique combinations of short and long-wavelength laser beams provided by PALS in different geometries and at the best achievable timing. Partial objectives of the project are concrete results of dense plasma studies relevant to inertial fusion, power photonics (plasma sources of energy and particle radiation), planetology and astrophysics. The strategic objective of the project is to use the comparative advantages of the iodine photodissociation laser system (including the very narrow atomic iodine spectral line) and the secondary sources of radiation and particles that it uses for the generation and diagnosis of dense plasma.
