Aims of the project: Cryosorption pumps are ideal candidates for controlling plasma density in the divertor region of tokamaks. No other pumping technology can be employed there effectively. Aim of the project is to explore the technological possibilities of utilizing cryosorption pumps inside the vacuum vessels of future fusion reactors. The main goal is to 1) obtain know-how in designing and constructing cryosorption pumps that can reliably operate in high temperature, high radiation environments and withstand loads from tokamak electromagnetic forces. The project sets out to Identify and solve technological obstacles of their construction and 2) demonstratie the solutions with a functional sample under similar conditions expected in future fusion power plants.
