Plasma interaction with fusion reactor heat shields

Aims of the project: The project investigates two tasks aimed to improve the heat shields on future fusion reactors. We'll perform heavy 3D turbulent GBS simulation: 1.1) test against uniquely fast probe data from COMPASS, 1.2) predictive runs for COMPASS Upgrade. Simulations of the liquid metal heat shield planned for COMPASS Upgrade divertor: 2.1) heat conduction, evaporation, excitation and radiation of lithium and tin 2.2) investigate the vapor condensor in order to minimize the undesired influx into main plasma 2.3) test such modeling on experimental devices (outside a tokamak)
