Advanced optical diagnostics of non-equilibrium micro-discharges
|
Project ID: | GAP205/12/1709 | Provider: | Czech Science Foundation | Period: | Jan 01, 2012 - Dec 31, 2014 | Principal Investigator: | RNDr. Milan Šimek, Ph.D. | Co-investigators | V. Prukner, V. Babický, J. Schmidt | Aims of the project: The project deals with the study of fundamental processes occurring in filamentary streamer discharges produced in atmospheric gases by combining ICCD microscopy with emission spectrometry and various
laser-based diagnostics applied with high spatial and time resolution.
The project intends to contribute to:
1) deeper understanding of streamer morphology and radiall distribution of important species within streamer filament,
2) determination of excitation and quenching rates of selected
N2 excited states and
3)extension of spectrometric diagnostics which are currently used for E/N measurements in N2 and in N2+O2 discharges.
We will focus on non-equilibrium kinetics of metastables and radicals, including determination of concentrations, at two different pressure ranges corresponding to:
a) technological plasmas at 760 Torr and
b) upper-atmospheric transient luminous events at 0.1-10 Torr. Optical diagnostics will be complemented by measurements of electrical characteristics, by analysis of discharge products, and by means of various numerical modeling and simulation approaches.
