Project ID: | *M100430901 | Provider: | Czech Academy of Sciences | Period: | Mar 04, 2009 - Mar 03, 2011 | Principal Investigator: | Ing. M.S.M.E. Jiří Jeništa, CSc. | Co-investigators | M. Hrabovský, T. Kavka | Aims of the project: The objectives of the proposed research are 1) parametric study of hybrid-stabilized argon-water electric arc under subsonic-supersonic regimes, i.e. numerical investigation of characteristics and processes in the hybrid arc especially at high currents and argon mass flow rates including supersonic plasma flow regimes; and 2) a detailed comparison of the calculated results with experiments. Some of the calculated results will provide feedback for experiments: radial profiles of the Mach number at the outlet nozzle will be used for re-evaluation of the Mach number and velocity profiles obtained indirectly from experiments (integrated approach). Comparison with other physical quantities will be also carried out. Another part of this research will be devoted to mixing of plasma species within the discharge chamber. Theoretical description of mixing will be carried out using the combined diffusion coefficients approach using three species in the plasma mixture - hydrogen, argon and oxygen. Modeling of diffusion will be beneficial both from the theoretical point of view and for better evaluation of experimental data. | |
